On the occasion of the Side Event dedicated to youth in the fight against desertification, organized today, at the UNCCD pavilion and following the interventions of the young panelists who shared their personal experiences marked by incomprehension, revolt but also of hope in the face of the challenges of our planet, the President of COP15 Desertification encouraged young people to become more involved in politics to lead an effective fight against desertification, drought and land degradation by reminding them of the importance of their opinions and their leading role in the search for innovative and adapted solutions. Before showing them his gratitude for their unfailing commitment and their continued support until the upcoming COP16 which will take place in Saudi Arabia in December 2024, Mr. Alain-Richard DONWAHI asked these young people to be at the forefront of the stage in order to bring about a real change in mentalities regarding climate and environmental issues.
